École Sacré-Coeur has unveiled a new school logo – created through a school-wide design contest.

Stéphane Gautron is École Sacré-Coeur's Guidance Counselor who spearheaded the contest.

"We had a logo contest to refresh our basketball jerseys and letterhead logo. The contest was during remote learning in January; it was a positive way to rally the students and create school spirit."

Submissions came from Kindergarten to Grade 8, with over 100 entries. The selection committee comprised the student services team and the school's administration.

The committee’s choice was artwork submitted by Grade 6 student Joey.

"Joey was beaming when we announced it; this was a hidden talent of his. Graphic design was a career path he never thought of and now wants to pursue,” said Gautron. “Seeing his pride and excitement spreads the joy throughout his class and school."

Joey, the young designer, said, "When I first tried making logos, it was fun; I heard about our school's contest and decided to enter. I feel proud of myself; it's a dream of mine to be a graphic designer now."

"It feels really exciting to soon wear a jersey with my logo on it; I'll be talking about this for a long time."
