Band

February 4, 2021

Students can begin participating in the Concert Band program when they start grade 7. Students can learn to play either a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. Instruments will be provided, free of charge to them by the school. Students either take their instruments home to practice, or can practice in the Band room before school starts each morning. Once students become sufficiently proficient on their instruments, a smaller group will be selected to play in the Jazz Band which begins in grade 8. Jazz Band is an extracurricular activity in grade 8, but can be taken as a credit course in grade 9. All grades participate in school performances such as the Winter and Spring Concerts. The grade 8 and 9 Bands will also take part in the Winnipeg Optimist Band Festival. The grade 9 Band has a long tradition of traveling to Regina in order to take part in the Springfest Band Festival.

CONCERT BAND
