Local Makers in the Making: Elmwood Supply Company

The Elmwood Supply Company (ESC) is a student-led entrepreneurial initiative that empowers Elmwood High School students to design, create, and sell unique, community-inspired clothing and handcrafted products. More than a business, ESC is a movement that fosters pride, unity, and purpose — inspiring students to become creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs. 

This past weekend, Grade 10-12 ESC students attended their first artisan market of the year at Kildonan Place. Student makers pitched in to sell handmade goods such as sweatshirts, keychains and toques to admiring shoppers. Sales for ESC were the highest to date, but the biggest reward was the opportunity for students to show off and celebrate their community of Elmwood.  
 
The market was a heart-warming and transformative experience for students, who were shy and timid at first, but ended up with broad, proud smiles each time they made a sale. The market was also a wonderful opportunity to show the public some of the innovative programming happening inside Elmwood High School.
