February 8, 2021

Grade 9 Outdoor Education is off to a great start with students learning about canoe safety and how to persevere in the face of unfavorable weather. Both class have attend the Canoe Rescue Field Trip where student perform the swim to survive protocol, learn  about aquatic first aid and practice the Canoe Over Canoe Rescue technique. After practicing these safety skills in a controlled setting, students had the opportunity to develop their paddling ability on the La Salle River at La Barriere Park. Both classes had to deal with unseasonably cold weather and a risk of snow. Although chilly at times, students were able to learn more about an outdoor activity that they can continue enjoying for years to come.
