Reach for the Top Provincial Champions
February 8, 2021
Kelvin's Senior Reach for the Top team took home the provincial championship trophy for the second time in three years and won a third straight berth in the National Finals to be held in Toronto in May.
The team, made up of Erik K., Natea B., Muhamed A., Theoren T. and Torbjorn T. won every match they played during the entire 2015-2016 regular season and took their undefeated streak right through the Provincial Finals, winning their round robin matches against Fort Richmond Collegiate, the Gray Academy and St. John's Ravenscourt. They faced St. Paul's High School in the final match-up, in which City Councillor Brian Mayes acted as Quiz Master and managed to reclaim the trophy in a close match.
Special thanks go to Coach John Martens who also serves as the Provincial Co-ordinator for Reach for the Top. He, along with Counsellor Mayes, aranged to hold the Provincial finals at the Carol Shields Auditorium in the Millennium Library, before a vociferous crowd of Kelvin alumni and parents, among others.
Go, Reach for the Top!
