Model United Nations

École secondaire Kelvin High School took part in the 58th annual Model United Nations Assembly at Canadian Mennonite University.  Over 160 students from Manitoba, Ontario, North Dakota, and Minnesota represented over 80 countries during the three day long event.  Kelvin grade 11 scholars Ushashi O. and Rachel B-V took on the task of researching and portraying the kingdom of Belgium as they debated resolutions ranging from the civil war in Libya to the lifitng of sanctions in Iran.  

Guest speakers included Mayor Brian Bowman, Lieutenant Governor Janice Filmon and keynote speaker, former Mayor Susan Thompson.  Kelvin students were successful in making amendments to the resolutions they were assigned and received compliments for their speeches in Committee and before the General Assembly.  Kelvin hopes to sponsor two country delegations next year.
