Asian Heritage Symposium

February 8, 2021

Kelvin Asia Pacific Scholars grades 9 through 11 recently took part in an Asian Heritage Symposium at the University of Winnipeg's Global College.  The students shared with other schools present highlights from Kelvin's Asia Pacific Studies program -- the only comprehensive set of courses of their kind among Manitoba high schools -- and learned about the activities and projects being undertaken by schools such as Maples Collegiate and Daniel MacIntyre in their Asian culture clubs.

Kelvin scholars were able to take part in a panel discussion with four  Asian Canadians; an actor, a graphic designer, a police officer and a Canadian diplomat to learn about their achievements and the challenges they faced that led them to their positions of leadership in their fields today.  In the afternoon, students took part in various cultural workshops, photo highlights of which you can view below...

Asia Pacific Studies is open to all Kelvin students for credit.  Contact Sokalski Sensei for details at rsokalski@wsd1.org.
