Ultimate Team Takes Provincial Title

February 8, 2021

The team was officially formed in September 2015 while setting up the MODS league teams. By December 2015, Kelvin High School was officially going to attend the Nationals for the first time ever! They conditioned Tuesday evenings in the school halls which was lead by Nathan Wilson, they practiced with the University of Winnipeg team on Thursdays and together on Sunday evenings. Along with some bumps and bruises, there were some injuries that lead to adding a few key names to the roster. Together, these students have helped each other out on and off the field.

At Nationals on May 14th and 15th, Oshawa was rainy and windy. The Clippers placed themselves at the top of their pool on the first day. SJR and Westwood also placed first in their pools.

On the sunday, the wind was just as gusty and it was colder than in Winnipeg. The students showed their talent against John Cabot Colts and SJR all the way to the finals against Innisdale.

The final was nail biting and went to universal point where the wind, being a factor all weekend, was not in their favour. After a hard fight and giving all they had, Kelvin fell short at a 12-11 final score.

Placing 2nd out of 16 teams across Canada, the team is proud of their accomplishments. They set the bar high for future Winnipeg teams at Nationals. At Provincials on May 28th and 29th, Kelvin A Clippers dominated the field and brought back the Provincial banner against Westwood. This is the second year in a row.
