Welcome to Room 216, Grade 3/4!
Dear Families, My name is Kaileigh Tod, and I will be your child’s classroom teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Our goal is to meet the individual needs of every child while encouraging a strong sense of community and teamwork within the class. I am excited to get to know the students and their families over the course of the school year.
The following is a brief overview of the learning areas we will cover:
English Language Arts
Students will continue to build confidence in their listening, speaking, viewing, writing, and reading skills. Additionally, students will engage in daily phonics instruction to develop strong foundational literacy skills, including decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
Math Students will continue to build confidence and competency in all areas of the math curriculum:
● Number Sense
● Patterns and Relations
● Shape and Space
● Statistics and Probability
Social Studies
We will be learning about diverse communities in Canada. We will start with studying Canada as a whole, then focus in on our province.
The units we will study are:
● Geography of Canada
● Living in Canada
● Living in Manitoba/History of Manitoba
● Canada’s North Science
The science curriculum focuses on inquiry and problem solving. Students will be asking questions, making predictions, conducting experiments and completing design projects.
The units we will study are:
● Materials and Structures
● Light
● Sound
● Soils in the Environment
Health
Students will learn about different strategies and practices to take care of their minds and bodies.
Art
Students will be getting creative using different art mediums and techniques.
Here at Pinkham we strive to authentically weave Indigenous ways of knowing and being into all subject areas. In room 216 we have been using the Seven Sacred Teachings and a classroom Treaty to help guide expectations and behaviour so far this year.
