Welcome to RM 218 GRADE 2/3!
Hello Everyone! I am Mrs. Angelie Falco your grade 2 & 3 Teacher at Room 218. I graduated with a Bachelor of Elementary Education and Master of Education in Educational Management at The University of SouthEastern Philippines. I have been teaching for 15 years in the Philippines and 5 yrs. in Manitoba. I have a deep passion for fostering curiosity and love for learning. I am looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and exploring with all of you.
English Language Arts (ELA): At Room 218 Students will strengthen their reading fluency, comprehension, and writing skills through a variety of texts and genres. Later terms will include novel or author studies, persuasive and letter writing, and storytelling. The year will conclude with writing portfolios, student-led reading celebrations, and reflection on personal growth.
Mathematics: At Room 218 Students will deepen their number sense and problem-solving strategies throughout the year. In the fall, the focus will be on place value, addition, subtraction, skip counting, and patterns. During winter, students will develop strategies for multiplication and division, explore fractions, and measure perimeter and area. In the spring, the focus shifts to problem-solving with multi-step operations. The year will conclude with review and enrichment through math games, projects, and a math fair to celebrate learning.
Science: Inquiry and hands-on learning will guide science throughout the year. At Room 218 we will learn through STEAM projects, outdoor inquiry, and opportunities to share learning through a science fair or classroom showcase.
Social Studies & Indigenous Perspectives: The year will begin with a focus on identity, community, and belonging, including the Seven Teachings and “Me on the Map” activities. Students will finish the year by working on inquiry projects of personal interest and sharing their learning with families and community partners, emphasizing how everybody belongs and contributes.
Health: At Room 218, students will explore a wide range of topics including personal hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, safety, emotional regulation, relationships, and personal growth.Throughout all units, the focus is on building self-awareness, empathy, and responsibility for one’s own health. Health education is integrated into the daily life of the classroom through conversations, routines, and activities that help students make meaningful connections between what they learn and how they live. CARE Integration: The
CARE principles (Come Prepared, Actively Listen, Ready to Participate & Inquire, Everybody Belongs) will be woven throughout the year. Daily reflection circles will support gratitude, self-regulation, and social-emotional learning. Culturally responsive resources, including Indigenous teachings and multicultural texts, will ensure inclusivity and representation in daily learning.

Inquiry Based Learning: Students will learn about the inquiry process and will be taught the skills that allow students to seek resolutions to questions while constructing new knowledge. Students will be developing their research skills through Literacy and technology from their interested idea. ELA, Math Science, Social Studies, Health and Art are integrated based on their inquiry.
