Cross Country at Sargent Park is the first team sport of the year. All grade 7, 8 and 9 students are eligible to participate. Students are expected o practice once a day between September and the middle of October. The athletes will compete in 5 races; Kildonan Park, Grant Park, Churchill Drive, Woodsworth Park and Assiniboine Park. All races are between 1.5 and 3 km. Cross Country is the best way to prepare for the Volleyball and Basketball season.
Sargent Park School offers volleyball at several levels of competition. The Elementary program will run from the end of October and the month of November and is open to all grade 5 and 6 students. All practices will take place at 8:00am. Tournaments will take place at various Central District schools during the first week of December. Students can join one of the following Junior High teams: Grade 9 Boys, Grade 9 Girls, Junior Boys Tier 1, Junior Girls Tier 1, Junior Boys Tier 2, and Junior Girls Tier 2. Teams participate in the Winnipeg School Division league and enter into several tournaments each year. Our volleyball teams have been very successful over the years winning many championship banners and tournaments. The coaches at Sargent Park are dedicated and practice several times a week. An expectation of all coaches is players, as athletes, must work diligently on the court and also work hard as students and to be good role models both in school and in the community.
Sargent Park School offers a basketball program at several levels of ability and competition. The Elementary program will run in mornings at 8:15am in January and February and is open to all grade 5 and 6 students. Only grade 6 students will have the opportunity to participate in a Central District tournament at Sargent Park.
Students can try out to join one of the following Junior High teams: Grade 9 girls and boys, Junior Tier 1 girls and boys, Junior Tier 2 girls and boys, and in-school developmental program for girls and boys. The teams compete in the Winnipeg School Division league as well as competing in out of division tournaments. Our basketball program has celebrated much success in the last few years winning numerous divisional and provincial titles. Coaches hold practices several times a week throughout and prior to the basketball season. Our school strives to have the best student-athletes possible, in so doing, as a school we expect our athletes to be good academic students as well as being respectful and cooperative while representing our school.

Track and Field
Every year, Sargent Park hosts its annual track and field day. It is a sports day comprising of various individual and team athletic competitions which include running, jumping and throwing. Records are kept for the best performances of specific events and awards given to top performers. From this, many of our top performers compete in the divisional finals. Sargent Park track and field includes these events: 100 , 200 and 800 meters; High Jump; Long jump; Triple jump; Shot put; Discus; 4 x 1 male relays; 4 x 1 female relays; 4 x 1 Co-ed relays; and 8 x 60 shuttle relays
Marathon Club is the final sports team competing a Sargent Park. All junior high athletes are welcome to train with the club between April and mid June. Students that have completed enough practices during the training season are eligible to run the Marathon Relay at the Manitoba Marathon. All relay athletes make their own way to their exchange stations. Sargent Park relay teams have medaled in each of the past 5 Manitoba Marathons. If you love o run this is the club for you!
Every year in June, Sargent Park School hosts its annual student athletic banquet. It is a time to share, celebrate and reflect on all athletic achievements and accomplishments by our students, staff and coaches.
