  1. Preparing Graduates to Lead with Wisdom, Courage, and Strength

Our goal is to prepare graduates who lead their communities and nations with wisdom, courage, and strength.

  • Advisory Program: Each student has a dedicated advisor who teaches most of their classes, builds strong relationships, and supports personalized learning.
  • Project-Based Learning: Integrated projects are developed collaboratively, based on student passions, the Manitoba curriculum, and individual learning plans.
  • Community-Based Mentorship: Students build skills and experience through internships and mentorships with local experts both in and out of the building.
  • Portfolios and Exhibitions: Students showcase learning across academic, creative, cultural, and personal dimensions.
  • Student Support Services team: Supports teacher practice and student success, ensuring culturally responsive learning.
  1. Advancing Rich Cultural Knowledge and Indigenous Languages

We honour and advance Indigenous culture, languages, and knowledge systems as central to our learning community.

  • Cultural Programming: Guided by students, staff, families, and community members to ensure relevance and authenticity.
  • Shared Responsibility: All staff integrate Indigenous perspectives and languages into daily practice.
  • Learning on the Land: Field trips and land-based experiences emphasize sustainability and traditional ecological knowledge.
  • Language Learning: Classes and immersive experiences focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Indigenous languages.
  • Cultural Art Integration: Art programming and installations reflect Indigenous languages and cultural practices.
  1. Engaging Students in Rigorous, Personalized Learning

We provide learning experiences that are challenging, relevant, and tailored to each student.

  • Foundations of Learning: All programs are built on Relationships, Relevance, Rigour, and In-Place Learning.
  • Integrated Learning Opportunities: Cross-curricular projects for full classes and individuals paired with Mentorship Wednesday opportunities provide opportunities for holistic, connected learning.
  • Mathematics: Conceptual understanding, collaboration, and global competencies are emphasized at all grade levels.
  1. Engaging Families and Community

We believe families and community are essential partners in student success.

  • Cultural and Ceremony Access: Opportunities for caregivers to participate in school events, workshops, and ceremonies.
  • Parent and Family Programs: Revitalized parent rooms, evening programs, and childcare support family and community engagement.
  • Community Partnerships: Our Community Support Worker and our partnership with CEDA provide resources and support for families and students.
  1. Promoting Consistent Presence and Engagement

Students thrive when they are present, engaged, and supported.

  • Intentional Learning Environments: Advisory and rich programming meet the unique needs of each learner.
  • Expanded Extracurriculars: Athletics, arts, and enrichment programs during lunch and after school.
  • Re-Engagement Initiatives: Partnerships with community organizations support students who have become disengaged.
  • Family Communication: Meaningful contact to keep caregivers informed.
  • Supportive Services: Free meals, laundry, bus passes, and childcare remove barriers to participation.
  1. Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle Through the Medicine Wheel

We approach well-being holistically, using the four quadrants of the Medicine Wheel: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health.

  • One Student at a Time: Individual attention and problem-solving support each student’s growth.
  • Growing Stronger: Relationships, engagement, and multiple opportunities for success create a path for success.
  • Athletic, Arts, and Enrichment Opportunities: Supported by staff, volunteers, and community experts to foster balanced growth.
