March 21, 2024
During the week of March 28 to 22, Harrow School students, teachers and staff celebrated Spirit Week.
On Tuesday, March 19, the student council decided to celebrate their school community's incredible diversity with a fun-filled Culture Day.
In the morning, students built their cultural understanding and respect from an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper.
In the afternoon, Grades 1-6 students showcased their talents in a vibrant Culture Day Assembly.
Mr. Opena, the dedicated Performing Arts Teacher, trained all students for three weeks and guided them on a cultural journey through dance.
The fantastic dance performances included:
Room 4: Flowing scarves representing Hungary
Room 1: Graceful ribbons symbolizing China
Room 9: Sombreros and high kicks for Mexico
Room 8: Energetic Hopak Dance of Ukraine
Room I2: Lively La Bastringue capturing the spirit of French Canada
Room 10: Dazzling Pandanggo sa Ilaw from the Philippines
The students and staff also organized a cultural display in the library, and parents joined them in exploring this vibrant display.
Culture Day and the spirit week was a great success. The students learned, celebrated, and strengthened the bonds within the diverse school family.
