Athletics & Extra-Curricular

February 24, 2023

Our K - 3 physical education program places an emphasis on the acquisition of basic movement skills. Some of these skills include jumping, hopping, skipping, galloping, running, rolling, bouncing, catching, throwing and balance. These skills are taught and used in simple games and stations as well as target-type activities, chasing/fleeing games, territory/invasion-type activities and net/wall striking and fielding games.

The basic movement skills are the building blocks for participation in all physical activity and are the prerequisites to lifelong physical activity. All students are expected to come to the gym with a positive attitude and a willingness to put in a good effort. Practice and hard work equals success in all that we do – the gym is the perfect atmosphere to learn these important life lessons.

The grades 4-6 Physical Education program still focuses on the basic movement skills, but these skills are practiced through a wide variety of sports and lead-up games and activities.

Some extracurricular activities offered at Harrow include:

  • Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Floor Hockey
  • Track and Field
  • Dance
  • Outdoor Running Club
