Clipper Pride

February 5, 2021

Kelvin's Spectrum was proud to join schools from the Winnipeg School Division in the annual Pride Parade. With 92 entries and over 2000 participants, this years' parade was Winnipeg's largest - so long that the front-runners crossed the finish line before the tail-end passed the start. The group sported T-shirts designed and printed by Spectrum members. The march included WSD school trustees, including our Ward 3 trustee and Board Chair, Mark Wasyliw. The students were inspired by the presence of Gilbert Baker, who created the now-famous rainbow flag in 1978. Premier Brian Pallister, Mayor Brian Bowman, and Grand Chief Derek Nepinak of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs also spoke at the pre-parade rally at the Legislature.

Spectrum meets every Thursday in Rm. 46. Check out the Spectrum page on the Kelvin website, under Athletics & Extra-curricular: https://www.winnipegsd.ca/page/4320/.
