Room 25

Grades 1 - 6 2023 School Supply List.pdf

February was a great month in our classroom. With it being both Black History and I Love To Read month we have been incredibly busy. In Readers Workshop we have been focused on dystopian novels and the characteristics attributed to it. For I Love to Read month we were fortunate enough to have Niigaan Sinclair come to read to the grade 6 students. He was an incredible guest to have, adding so much of his own knowledge into the reading and including the students the whole time.

In Writer's Workshop we have wrapped up our Literary Essays in which the students compared and contrasted two characters.

In Math we have finished our focus on fractions, decimals, percentages and ratios. The kids have  really thrived in this unit, working incredibly hard to meet our "prove it" goals at the end of each week. These goals have given students one goal for each week to work  towards and then they are provided the opportunity to come prove their knowledge to me at the end of the week.

In Science we are wrapping up our unit on Flight and are so excited about our field trip to the Royal Aviation Museum. In Social Studies we have taken a brief hiatus from Canada's history to focus on Black History month. Each student has chosen and influential person to spotlight through research, an art component and some kind of presentation component
