Hello students and families!

We kicked off the year by getting to know each other through interactive games, quizzes, and activities. To ensure that we have the best year possible, we made a classroom treaty with the sun categories Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Cooperative. We all have signed the treaty in agreement to follow it to the best of our abilities. In math, we are refreshing our memory with the number strand outcomes of representing and decomposing numbers above one   million and numbers that contain 3 decimal places. This will set the foundation for addition and subtraction. 

In writing workshop, students generated ideas for personal narrative stories and will publish a story within the next few weeks. During the month of September,  students recorded their silent reading stamina and will be graphing their data over the year to see the growth they have made. 

As a class, we voted on our Science topics for the year and will be starting with the grade 6 unit: Electricity. We hope to show you the creations we make through the digital portfolio Seesaw. If you haven’t connected to your child’s account, I will be sending home paperwork shortly so you can view your child’s learning at school.
