Clubs

October 22, 2026

Mr. Kumka is running a lunchtime Chess Club on Day 3 at 12:30 p.m. in the library.

The first Chess Club meeting will take place on October 26, 2026. Students of all skill levels are welcome to join, whether they are learning the game for the first time or looking to challenge their chess strategies against other players.

Students in Grades 1-6 will participate in an Exploratory Block on Day 6 from 9:00-9:40 a.m. This initiative will run from October 29 until Winter Break.

Students were invited to choose from 11 interest-based activities: Logic Games, Dance, Learn to Draw, Clay Building, Juggling, Lego Club, Board Games, Oil and Chalk Pastel Art, Nature Club, Beading, and The Queenston Conversation Newspaper.

Students have been placed in small groups of approximately 10-15 participants, with each group led by a teacher.

The goal of the Exploratory Block is to give students the opportunity to explore an activity they enjoy while building connections with peers and staff from different grade levels. By bringing students together around shared interests, we hope to strengthen students’ sense of belonging at Queenston and foster a stronger school-wide community. These experiences will also provide authentic opportunities for older students to develop and demonstrate leadership skills.
