WSD Celebrates Dedicated Staff at Long Service and Retirement Reception

Winnipeg School Division recently honoured its longtime employees at the annual Long Service and Retirement Reception. The event recognized 194 staff members for their years of dedication to WSD students and families. 71 employees marked 25 years of service, and six employees reached 40 years of service. 126 employees retired this year. 

"On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to congratulate all Long-Service and Retiring Employees," said Tamara Kuly, Chair of the WSD Board of Trustees. "Their commitment to education has made a lasting impact on our school communities."

Jason Parenteau, Knowledge Keeper, opened ceremonies with an honour song. The École Riverview School Pow Wow Circle then treated staff and guests to dancing. Mae Manimtim, a Sisler High School student, sang a song entitled “Janice by the Band Dilaw.” 

Grade 11 Dance Class students from Sisler High School performed the Finale from “MJ the Musical.”

It was a wonderful afternoon of sharing memories and laughter.
