Truth & Reconciliation

September 29, 2022

September 29th, 2022

In honor of all the children who attended, lost their lives and the numerous people that have been affected by residential schools, staff and students at Ecole George V School participated in a ribbon tying ceremony. The ceremony started by students in Grades 7 and 8 reading the Winnipeg School Division land acknowledgment as well as the meaning of the orange t-shirt.  Orange ribbons were then given to each student and with the support of Rooms 301, 307 and staff, each ribbon was tied to the fence in our school playground on Union Street.

With the guidance of Mme. Riel, staff and students were also invited to put their hand print with black or orange paint on the windows of the schools link way.  This initiative was to promote the importance that "Every Child Matters"!

Pictures of the ceremony and the hand-prints coming soon to this page.
