Elementary

The elementary program at Rockwood School uses as a foundation the philosophy that has traditionally been called "Alternative", which includes:
- Child centred learning
- Activity based, hands-on learning
- Thematic and integrated learning
- Multi-aged groupings
- Family involvement
In addition to these traditional alternative values we also use the following as our foundation:
- school priorities in math and language arts
- a strong sense of community
- integration of the arts
- inquiry based learning
- integration of technology
- promotion of healthy lifestyles
- fostering respect for the environment and global citizenship
