In honour of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Arin Shebagegit, an Indigenous post-high student in Tec-Voc’s Graphic Arts department created a custom t-shirt design.

“I’ve been wanting to do a shirt design for Every Child Matters for a couple years now, and this is my first chance of actually getting to get to do it.", says Arin.

"I always liked the idea of owls because, in some places they represent death, but in others they are viewed as wise old creatures that represent wisdom and can send possible warnings. I thought the design could bring out our history and generational trauma, bring it to light, and help us remember what happened and how many people were lost.  I designed the older owl holding the younger owl.  This represents the older generation protecting the younger generation."

Students can purchase an Every Child Matters shirt at Tec-Voc’s Stingers Store. Proceeds go to residential school survivors.
