Music

When your child enters the music room, they will be in a safe and enjoyable environment. The love of music and what it has to offer for their lives in today’s changing world is our primary concern.  Being involved in music will help your child develop a healthy view of different styles, cultures and opinions that shape every learners mind.  Educating your child in music will help enhance their understanding in other curricular subjects and will increase co-operation and good citizenship among other children.

As soon as students enter Grade 1, basic skills are taught. It is from this base that the rest of the music program is built.  At an early stage, children are encouraged to participate in the many performances that our school puts on.  This involvement continues to enhance your child’s music education.

Students will have the opportunity to discover the various roles music plays in today’s society. They have the choice to perform, compose, question and present their interest in music.

At Shaughnessy Park School, music is a subject that brings joy to many students.  Whether it be alternative, rock and roll, classical, jazz, folk, country, rap or light rock, children get the opportunity to express their style, learn about others and contribute in an exciting and interactive way.

Students will learn about the latest trends in music, explore music technology, dance, sing, act, compose and experiment with instruments.
