Lock Down and Hold and Secure Drills

In addition to having regular Fire Drills, we will also be practicing Lock Down and Hold and Secure Procedures.  These drills are not intended to alarm students, but rather ensure that they are aware of what to do should an emergency situation arise.  It’s imperative that all drills happen quickly and effectively.

In a Lock Down drill, an unwanted intruder has entered the school building.  All classrooms in the school are secured, and the students are kept inside the classroom with the lights off and away from the windows until classroom teachers are advised by School Administrators that the threat is over.

In a Hold and Secure drill, unwanted individuals are outside the building trying to get in.  All entrances to the school are secured and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building until the threat is over.  During a Lock Out drill, signs will be posted at each outside entrance alerting anyone trying to enter the school, but classes inside the building will carry on as usual.
