Lunch Program news

Registration for the 2023/2024 school year:

This lunch program year has been quite a challenge and a very different year from the many years past. The program would like to extend an appreciation to you the parents, the teachers, the school administration, PAC, and also our great staff members that have come to the program’s aid and have made it possible for this program to be able to available this past year.

This year, all students will continue to eat in their classrooms while being supervised by a Lunch Program staff member. Grades 1,2,3 students will eat from 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm and go for recess from 12:30 - 1:00. Grades 4,5,6 students will go for recess from 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm and eat lunch from 12:30 - 1:00.

We have new Registration forms going out to all Kindergarten families by mid-April. When you receive these forms, you will have to return them to the school/Lunch Program. This will ensure that your child/children are registered and we can offer them a place in the program come September.

All families that are currently registered and do require the use of the lunch program in September will be sent out a Registration form and will be required to fill out the form and return it. Please find the registration forms at the bottom of this page.

The lunch program will not be doing in-person registration this year and it will be important that you send in completed forms so that you will be considered registered for September.

General Information:

The École Laura Secord School Lunch Program is run by the Parent Advisory Council Executive Board of Laura Secord School and is available to all ELSS students registered in grades 1 through 6.

Our Lunch Program employs a Lunch Program Director, Assistant Director, and 25 full-time and part-time staff who provide care and supervision to approximately 310 students over the lunch period.  We are the largest parent-run lunch program in the province.

All staff members have a criminal background and child abuse registry check, are trained in First Aid and CPR, and have completed Non-Violence Crisis Intervention training.

The Lunch Program staff are responsible for all students who stay for lunch, including supervision, care, behaviour management, and discipline, and they strive to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for all registered students.

If you are sending in anything of importance that the lunch program needs to be aware of, please send us a quick email so that we know to check with your child.

For families that are currently paying with Automatic Withdrawal on a monthly basis, please be aware that the withdrawal dates are set for the 1st and 21st of the month. Due to the fact that those dates may fall on a weekend or bank holiday, the withdrawal may take place up to 3 days after those dates. Any other forms of payment that the lunch program receives will be deposited on/or about the above dates.  Please be sure to have the funds in your account so to avoid any bank charges.
