Welcome to Room 215 Grade 3/4 

 

Dear Families, 


Welcome to Room 215 grade 3/4! My name is Kevin Guile, and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am new to Pinkham School but am very excited to be a part of the Pinkham community and your child's learning journey this year. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can contact the school at 204-786-5749.

Areas of Study


English Language Arts- Students will continue to develop their skills and confidence in listening, speaking, writing, and reading. We will participate in reading daily, guided reading groups, and novel studies.  We will use the 6 Traits of Writing model in our daily writing. The Six Traits of writing are Voice, Ideas, Presentation, Conventions, Organization, Word Choice, and Sentence Fluency.  


Math- Students will communicate and cooperate as they learn through guided lessons, thinking classroom discussionshands-on materials, games/activities, mental math strategies, and Prodigy.    


Social StudiesThrough inquiry-based learning, students will develop skills in the areas of citizenship, finding information, thinking critically, and communication. 


ScienceThrough inquiry-based learning, students will wonder about the world around them as they develop skills and attitudes using the design process and their curiosities in scientific inquiry.  


Health 

Personal and Social Development, Safety of Self and Others, Nutrition, Healthy Lifestyle Practice (Active Living), and Second Step (Social Emotional Learning Program). 

 

Attendance 

Regular attendance is important for your child's academic success. Students are expected to come to school every day and on time. In the event your child is absent, please contact the school office.
