Seven Teachings

March 18, 2024

At Pinkham, we celebrate the Seven Teachings, guiding principles that help us live well and respect each other. These teachings—Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility, and Truth—have been passed down by Indigenous peoples for generations. They remind us to be kind, truthful, and brave in our actions, creating a positive and caring community for everyone.

  1. Love: Love teaches us to show kindness and compassion towards ourselves and others. It reminds us to care for each other and to build strong, supportive relationships.

  2. Respect: Respect is about honoring ourselves, others, and the world around us. It teaches us to treat everyone and everything with dignity and consideration.

  3. Courage: Courage encourages us to face challenges and difficulties with bravery and strength. It teaches us to overcome our fears and to stand up for what is right.

  4. Honesty: Honesty is about being truthful in our words and actions. It teaches us the importance of integrity and building trust with others.

  5. Wisdom: Wisdom is the ability to make good choices and decisions based on knowledge and experience. It teaches us to seek understanding and to learn from our mistakes.

  6. Humility: Humility is about being humble and modest. It teaches us to be respectful of others' abilities and accomplishments, and to not boast about our own.

  7. Truth: Truth is about being honest with ourselves and others. It teaches us to seek and speak the truth, even when it is difficult.
