Principal Sparling School Standards for Success in Literacy

We believe……..

All students can be successful Literacy Learners.

Literacy Instructions and Practises meet the individual needs of all students.

Differentiated Learning is the framework for effective teaching that involves providing all students within their diverse classroom community of learners a range of different avenues for understanding new information.

Students need to see Teachers as Risk-takers and Literacy Learners to value lifelong Literacy Learning

High Expectations with targeted intervention is essential for all learners to achieve success.

Assess/re-assess literacy programs

Embrace Students’ diverse backgrounds

Literacy Learning integrated across Curriculums and not in isolation

Establish reading communities

Providing a Literacy Rich Environment with a variety of texts, also includes visual support for all learners (Reading/Libraries)

Use evidence based data to drive instruction and individual student needs

Clear guidelines/samples for instruction (Task, Intent, and Criteria) and immediate student feedback

Communicate, co-operate, and value parents support

Provide students with a toolbox of literacy strategies to build independence and sustainability.

Technology preparedness and provide ways for students to interact with technology educationally.
