FAQ: Academics and Schools
May 7, 2026
Q: Which schools can international students attend?
A: International students may attend a variety of elementary, middle, and high schools within Winnipeg School Division, depending on the student’s grade level, program goals, English language needs, school suitability, and available space. WSD International works carefully to place students in schools that best support their academic success and overall experience in Canada.
Applicants may select two preferred schools in their application; however, placement at a preferred school is not guaranteed. All requests are carefully considered, but school availability cannot be determined until the application, student credentials, and other requirements have been fully reviewed. WSD International reviews all applications for school suitability and determines admissibility based on the submitted application and available space at the time of review.

Q: Are AP or advanced courses offered?
A: Yes. Some Winnipeg School Division high schools offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses and other advanced academic opportunities for eligible students. Course availability varies by school and may depend on prerequisites, grade level, and scheduling. Students interested in advanced academic pathways are encouraged to discuss their goals with the WSD International team during the application process.
