Q: Can international students graduate from high school in the Winnipeg School Division?

A:  Yes. International students may earn a Manitoba High School Diploma by successfully completing the required graduation credits established by the Province of Manitoba. Students must accumulate a minimum of 30 credits, including the compulsory courses required for graduation. As part of the admissions process, WSD International carefully reviews academic records and works with school guidance counsellors to evaluate and transfer eligible credits from the student’s home school(s). For Grade 12 international students, a minimum of two semesters of study is generally required in order to obtain a Manitoba High School Diploma. For detailed graduation requirements, applicants may visit the Manitoba Education Graduation Requirements website


Q: Can International students who graduated from high school with a Manitoba Diploma apply to Canadian universities?

A:  Yes. International students graduating from WSD high schools may apply to universities, colleges, and other post-secondary institutions in Manitoba and across Canada, depending on admission requirements and program eligibility. Interested students may contact the institutions directly.

A:  Yes. Guidance counsellors are available in WSD schools, as are WSD International Education Support Teachers, to help students with academic planning, course selection, graduation requirements, and future educational goals. International students are encouraged to meet with their WSD International Education Support Teachers throughout their studies to help plan for graduation and post-secondary pathways.
