Volunteer Opportunities

Travel Volunteer Opportunities for after high school:

Free and low cost programs. These are excellent ways to see and experience the world a little cost to you. This is a great way to expand your horizons, get new experiences and perspectives, if you decide it’s best for you to take a year to explore between high school and post-secondary school.

*NOTE: These programs are open to everyone.  You do not have to have plan on going to post secondary in order to participate.*

Katimavik – intensive 6-9 month volunteer program spent in 3 regions of Canada living with other youth volunteering in the community.  Free program: www.katimavik.org

Canada World Youth – various volunteer programs both in Canada and over seas. You spend 3 months living/volunteering somewhere in Canada, and 3 months abroad.  This is mostly a free program - all you have to do is fundraise to cover the big costs!  www.canadaworldyouth.org

Other Travel/Volunteer Options: (these options require a bit more funds upfront…)

Projects Abroad – volunteer projects and internships abroad.  www.projects-abroad.ca

Outtatown – 8-month discipleship program spent in Canada and Guatemala or South Africa.  Worth up to 18 university credits at CMU.  www.outtatown.ca

Keep your eyes open for volunteer positions within the school such as time keeping for sporting events.

Don’t forget to check with your nearest community centers, hospitals, personal care homes, soup kitchens or anywhere else you think might be a neat place to gain experience.
