Room 211 - Grade 4/5

November 21, 2022

Welcome to Room 211!

I am excited to be back at Champlain School for the 2022-2023 school year! We have had a great start to the year, and I am looking forward to all of the new, exciting things we are going to learn together this year!

Teaching your child is a tremendous responsibility and I will do my best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivating learning experience this year.  However, I cannot do this without the help of you, the parents. We are partners in the learning process.

I believe that parent-teacher relationships are necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate through notes, telephone call, report cards and parent teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions for concerns at any time.  You can call me at the school, send me a written note, or arrange for a meeting.

Classroom Expectations and Policies

Establishing good classroom expectations are essential to each childs success, confidence and well-being. Every child should feel that the classroom environment is safe and secure; free from all threats of physical or emotional harm. In addition, it is important that each child learn to develop self-discipline and good work habits, to resolve conflicts peacefully, and to think independently.

In our classroom we have developed a Respect Agreement based on our schools 3 beliefs: Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Ready to Learn.

Be Safe

Be Respectful

Be Ready to Learn

  • Practice all public heath rules
  • Walking feet
  • Hands by our sides
  • Play safe outside
  • Stay with our class
  • Push in chairs
  • Wait your turn
  • Listen and be kind to all adults
  • Don’t talk when others are talking
  • Listen the first time
  • Quiet voices
  • Be kind to our classmates
  • Use our manners
  • Raise our hand
  • Have patience
  • Solve problems with words
  • Quiet voices
  • Sitting at our spot
  • Waiting your turn
  • Get your brain ready
  • Complete you work
  • Eyes and ears on the teacher
  • Thinking caps on
  • Get into the green zone
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Just keep trying

In our classroom we will be pushing ourselves as learners this year.   We will always be striving for our best, and challenging ourselves to continue to grow.  Students will be encouraged to ask deep questions, and challenge the world we live in to solve the problems of today and the future.

We will represent our learning in a variety of ways, through writing, drawing, multi-media and presentations. Students will learn how to prepare their learning to reach a specific audience and the power their words have and how they can make a difference.

We will be using Google Classrooms for all student communication this year in regards to updates, assignments etc. We will also be training the students on using Google Classroom in case public health needs to shut down our classroom or school at any point. Please encourage your child to practice logging on from home.

Please download the Google Classroom app and become familiar with your childs virtual classroom.
