Andrew Mynarski V.C. School
Grade7/8 Spring Band Workshop

Funding for this project supports all students in Grades 7 – 8 at Andrew Mynarski V.C. School. Local instrument music professionals will be invited to run clinics for students. It will provide students with the experience of learning from professionals, access to positive role models in the field of music, the opportunity to improve their techniques, and allow students to develop a deeper appreciation for music. Funding supports student admissions and registration fees.
Champlain School
Who Are We?

Funding for this project supports all students in Champlain School. The mixed- grade groups will engage in Circle of Courage learning throughout the year to reinforce the importance of belonging and generosity and explore questions such as “Where do we come from” and “Why am I here” by working together on engaging activities. Champlain School hopes are to extend this learning into the community with a beautiful mosaic for all to enjoy and learn from. Funding supports artists’ fees/guest speakers, as well as supplies not available in school.
Grosvenor School
Thwaked Fine Arts Evening

Funding for this project supports all students in Grades Nursery – 6 at Grosvenor School. The request is a culmination of classroom inquiries that have been developed through the year and includes cross-curricular integration of the Arts (which include visual arts, music, drama, and dance). Students can demonstrate, collaborate, organize, and learn by socializing and interacting with others by wondering, exploring, and learning together. Funding supports supplies not available in school, equipment rental/instructions, and costumes.

École Secondaire Kelvin High
Mino-bimaadiziwin, Mino-Pimatisiwin – The Good Life Project

Funding for this program will allow Grade 9 – 12 students at École Secondaire Kelvin High School to decolonize a newly established Indigenous Learning Lodge space. Selected students will work with a local muralist to represent Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing through the use of art and visual literacy. No other funding source is available at this time. Will the committee increase one-time funding for the Good Life Lodge Project at École Secondaire Kelvin High School? Funding supports artist’s fees/guest speakers, fees for services/performances, and supplies not available in school.
Kent Road School
Genius Hour

Funding for this program will support Grades 3 – 6 students at Kent Road School. Students will be sorted into groups that will rotate between activities such as STEM challenges, arts and crafts, and science experiments. Groups will meet once per month. Funding supports supplies not available in school.
Music Therapy

Funding for this program will support Grades K – 6 students at Kent Road School who struggle with self-regulation, have anxiety, and are neurodiverse students with complex communication needs. This will strengthen communication and social skills as well as reduce anxiety and provide self-regulation tools for students through Music Therapy. Funding supports fees for services/performances.
R.B. Russell Vocational High School
Food Security – Eagle’s Nest

Funding for this program will support Grades 9 – 12 students and families from R.B. Russell Vocational High School with food security. Food security and feasts play an important role in supporting the Eagle’s Nest and all cultural teachings that take place in it. R.B. Russell Vocational High School services a diverse neighbourhood with many cultures with a large Indigenous population. Poverty and access to food play a major role in student and community learning and engagement. Funding supports supplies not available in school.

Embracing Indigenous Knowledge and Community

Funding for this program seeks to implement an Indigenous cultural program at Hugh John Macdonald School aimed at middle years students (Grade 7 – 9). This program will infuse authentic learning experiences from Indigenous community members, land-based learning with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and actively involve families in the educational journey. Funding supports fees for services/performances, supplies not available in school, and landbased activities and teachings.

Camp Manitou Outdoor Education

Funding for this project supports all students in Grades 7 – 8 at Meadows West School with the opportunity to attend Camp Manitou for one day.
