Community Information in Schools
January 8, 2026
To foster community engagement, Winnipeg School Division accepts requests from local organizations to share education-based programs and events with staff and families.
Approved materials are posted on a WSD staff portal, where teachers and administrators decide how best to share the information with staff and families. We also distribute a weekly staff newsletter that shares information about community partners with teachers.
What we can share
- Programs and events for families that are educational or recreational
- Programs and events for teachers that are education-based
- Fundraising opportunities that benefit schools
What we can’t share
- Commercial advertising of products and services
- Political messages
- Religious messages
How to send us your information
Email one PDF file about the event or program, along with a link to more information, if possible, to communications@wsd1.org.
We do not forward your emails or print and deliver materials to our schools and families.
Once materials are approved, community partners can contact schools directly to discuss the best way to distribute them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I drop off flyers at schools?
No. Materials must first be approved by Communications. If approved, you may contact schools via our School Directory to see if they will accept paper copies for distribution.
How will families see my information?
Once approved, materials are posted on a WSD staff portal. School administrators decide how to share information in their school newsletters, by email, or by sending print copies home with students.
Why can't WSD electronically forward my information directly to families?
We get many requests from community partners to share information. To avoid overwhelming staff and families with frequent messages and to keep divisional communications clear, WSD limits mass electronic distribution.
