Andrew Mynarski VC School

Grade 8/9 Spring Workshop
This project will provide an experience for students to learn from professionals in the field of instrumental music. Scheduled clinics will be organized according to student needs. Students will improve technique, enhance learning, and develop a deeper understanding of music. Funding is Artist’s Fee/Guest Speaker.


Faraday School

Faraday School’s Community Mosaic Art Project
This project will provide an opportunity for the Faraday School Community to celebrate the school’s 100th Birthday. The art installation will honour the work of the past and celebrate the present and the future school community. Student learning will explore the connection to nature, examine Indigenous Ways of Knowing, and building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect. Mosaic Artist Ursula Neufeld will work with school staff and students over a five month period to complete the work. Funding is Artist’s Fee/Guest Speaker, Supplies not available in school.


Hugh John Macdonald School

The Bridge Program 
The Bridge Program provides an opportunity for students to participate in a Music program. The program is led by professionals who teach music in a way that is connective to how cultures have connect with music. Many of the students are newcomers, and the Bridge provides all youth with rewarding and positive, creative programming that builds confidence and bridges relationships. Collège Churchill High School

Lifting Indigenous Voices in our School Community
This project will enhance Indigenous voices, cultures and perspectives more visible in the school community. The Professional Learning Community at Collège Churchill High School is setting goals by supporting and developing initiatives throughout the school. Drumming classes will re-start, literature, texts and other resources will be purchased for the library and classrooms, and students will also have an opportunity to meet an Indigenous artist, and finally, students will have an opportunity to visit the WAG exhibit, Naadohbii: To Draw Water. École Secondaire Kelvin High School

Supporting Indigenous Students
This project is to develop a student focus group supported by Indigenous staff who will provide mentorship, incorporating Indigenous perspectives, allowing students to build connections and gain new skills. With the guidance of Elders/Knowledge Keepers, student learning will focus on discussions pertaining to student success while incorporating traditional ways and teachings such as pipe ceremonies, feasts, skirt teachings, two-spirit teachings, reconciliation and our connection to the land. Mukwa Trails Drum Group
This project will provide students the opportunity to make Rattle Drums and learn of drum teachings. Elders and cultural leaders will guide student learning about rattle drums but also about the hand drums and the big drum. Students will participate during lunch hour with a feast to celebrate. Mini Olympics is an annual event at École Secondaire Sisler High School, that exposes a large number of Sisler students to new sports, leadership opportunities and organizational roles. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Infusion of Diverse Resources and Perspectives
This project will increase volume of diverse resources in classroom libraries and the home reading program. Strathcona school-wide goals include incorporating Indigenous perspectives into classrooms and providing students and staff with accessibility to a specific section of diverse, cultural resources. On-going professional learning will take place. The new resources will also support a school-wide inquiry into treaty education based on Manitoba’s K-12 Education Curriculum. Camp Manitou
The Camp Manitou project provides students in Grades 5 and 6 an overnight outdoor experience, and Grades 4 students will enjoy and day field trip to Camp Manitou. Students will participate in many outdoor activities, including cooperative games, fishing, swimming, orienteering and many others. The experience meet many of the cross curricular Outdoor Education and ESD outcomes. Dependent upon restrictions, this project will revert to day field trips. Funding is Camp Accommodations/Rental Fees.

Outdoor Education: Winter & Summer Day Camp
The Winter/Summer Camp provides students with an interesting and recreation outdoor experience, where many of the students would not experience otherwise. Camp encourages students to learn through cooperation, team building and leadership/mentorship opportunities. Many seasonal activities will be offered and are designed to enhance group dynamics. The Building Connections project gives students the opportunity to participate and be active in their community through environmental stewardship activities. Mindfulness Strategies through the Art of Cooking
The focus of this project will be the sensory impacts on mindfulness (taste, touch, smell, sight and sound). Students will engage in a unit on mindfulness, discussing various strategies that improve mental health. Students with special and diverse needs require a variety of sensory inputs and opportunities to exert physical energy in a safe and familiar space to practice mindful self-regulation.
