Grade 8/9 Winter Workshop
Funding for this for this project will provide opportunities for students to learn, develop and experience instrumental music. Students will learn from professionals in the field of music and will develop instrumental technique and a deeper appreciation for music. Student learning is in the Performing Arts area, and the funding is to support the fee for service for music professionals.
David Livingstone School

David Livingstone Mural
The project is to create an art installation that represents the David Livingstone School Community. Students will engage, collaborate and integrate Indigenous learning and perspective to create the art. Students, staff, parents, and community will share in the celebration of the art installation with a gathering and feast. Funds will support a fee for service, supplies not available in school and other items such as the feast.
Elmwood High School

School Musical Production
This project offers students various opportunities such as course credits in the Performing Arts area, volunteer hours, work experience and development of skills in the area building, costume design and marketing. Students and staff will work collaboratively to produce the musical, with three performances. The musical will be purchased from Musical Theatre International. Funding will support the purchase of the musical license, fee for service, and supplies not available in school.
Montrose School

Pottery Studio
Funding will support the development of the Student-centered Pottery Studio and the purchase of 2 Shimpo Lite Pottery Wheels. These wheels are smaller and allow the younger students to participate. Montrose School has a Kiln and an adult sized wheel and a variety of hand-building tools and glazes. Students in grades 5 and 6 have taken on a leadership role in the studio and support the younger students during the building process.

Children of the Earth High School

Learning Lodge
Funding for this project will support the development of the learning lodge to be shared by Children of the Earth and Niji Mahkwa schools. The plan is to build the lodge in the shared field and will be a welcoming place for cultural teachings, activities, events and celebrations. The structure will be made the traditional way of willow, and a fire-proof tarp. The tarp will be removed when not in use. Consultation has begun with the buildings department, a knowledge keeper, and Reuben Boulette, Principal at Niji Mahkwa School. Funds will support the purchase of supplies not in school including fuel, tobacco, honorariums and costs for harvesters and builders.
Hugh John Macdonald School

Hugh John Macdonald – Eagles’ Circle Off Campus
The objective of this project is Landbased learning, growing and maintaining sacred medicines and foods with the use of hydroponics. Student learning include the traditional ways of growing, building, planting and maintaining the plants. Students will collect data on best systems, improve on challenges while connecting them to culture using hands on inquiry practices. The project will be documented by Indigenous film make Erica Daniels to create a short film that will be shared with other schools. Funding will support supplies not available in school, film and developing.

Venture to Vegreville Alberta
The funding supports students in the English/Ukrainian bilingual program grades 7 and 8, to take part in the Venture to Vegreville. The 4-day excursion will enhance and support student learning beyond the curriculum and in ways that cannot be achieved within the classroom. The trip offers enriching and authentic experiences that will allow students to practice and develop language skills and develop a deeper understanding of Ukrainian heritage and culture.

Traditional Indigenous Ribbon Skirt Sewing
The project/program objective is student learning and engagement in school, connecting school curricular and integrating Indigenous perspective and culture. By providing this program on a regular basis in the classroom as well as an after-school and lunch program, helps to educate teachers on integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods, such as sewing into the curriculum of English, Science, Social Studies and Math. Traditional Birch Bark Basket Making
Funding for this project will support the sustainable harvesting of Birch Bark to create traditional baskets. With the guidance of a knowledge keeper, students will harvest birch bark and following traditional teachings. The knowledge gained can be transferred and scaled up for the construction of Birch Bark canoes in future years. Funding will support Fee for Service.

Funding for this project offers students in grade 7 the opportunity to experience outdoor camp. Students will participate in cultural and cooperative activities, develop communication and team-building skills, creating a space where campers can learn about Indigenous Ways of Knowing while strengthening connection to the land. Funding supports camp accommodations and rental Fees.

The project and funding create opportunities for students to experience outdoor education and participation in various local activities including bowling, soccer, the Forks, Dance Academy to name a few. Students will have an opportunity to choose up to five activities throughout the school year. Students will learn and develop new activities and skills and use their French language skills in an environment other than the classroom. Funding will support student registrations and admissions, accommodations and rental fees.

Equine Therapy Project
Funding for this project will support 6 elementary students with five transformative equine therapy sessions at Symatree Farms. This program addresses students’ emotional, social, and cognitive development through structured interactions with horses. The selected students would attend a one-hour group session together followed by four additional 1.5 hours sessions. Students would be accompanied by the principal and staff member. Funding for this project is student admissions and registrations.

Building Empathy
Funding for this project supports the school-wide initiative to encourage and enhance responsible and empathetic attitude to all living things. Through the Winnipeg Humane Society, the program helps foster a better understanding of empathy, supported by the use of Therapy Dogs, which supports students with physical, mental and behaviour needs. All students will have an opportunity to participate in this project. Funding supports Fee for service and guest speakers.

Urban Stable School Program – Stonehurst Stables Stonewall MB
The project is a nature-based experiential learning experience for students who require some social and regulation skills. The funding for this project will allow our students the opportunity to participate in twelve sessions as part of the program. The program empowers youth to overcome challenges and positively engage in their education and community through hands-on learning experiences with horses. The school piloted the program last year and witnessed tremendous growth in students. Funding is fee for services, registration and student admissions.
