Access to Information (FIPPA)


The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) is Manitoba legislation that provides individuals with the right to request access to records held by public bodies, including school divisions, while also ensuring personal information is collected, used, and disclosed responsibly.

FIPPA supports public accountability by providing access to information about the operations and decisions of Winnipeg School Division, while balancing the privacy rights of students, families, staff, and community members.


Submitting a FIPPA Request

Requests for access to records must be submitted in writing and include enough detail to identify the records being requested.

Past FIPPA Requests

To support transparency and public access to information, Winnipeg School Division provides access to completed FIPPA requests and disclosures.
Personal information that could identify individuals will be removed from records prior to public release where required by law.
