Student-Centred Services
What does Student-Centred Services do?
Student-Centred Services (SCS) provides division-wide support for WSD students, teachers, educational assistants, and families. Support can be provided for a school, class, small group, or individuals. Depending on student needs, SCS may offer professional learning or consultation to staff and families, conduct specialized assessment, provide specialized intervention, or respond to critical incidents.
Who is part of Student-Centred Services?
SCS is a group of clinicians, teachers and educational assistants providing support for the inclusion of all students. Our clinicians consist of school social workers, speech and language therapists, school psychologists, and reading clinicians. Occupational and physical therapy support is in partnership with Rehabilitation Centre for Children.
How can a student receive support?
Parents/caregivers can contact the student's classroom teacher regarding concerns about academic progress, social and emotional functioning, and communication skills. Teachers are supported in schools by school support teams (principal and vice-principal, learning support teacher, and clinicians). The school support team works to address concerns at the earliest opportunity. You will be contacted and asked for your consent before a clinician begins work with your child. Parents/caregivers are included in planning for their child in all steps of the process.
