Class Size Dashboard
This dashboard is based on the October 1, 2025 enrolment. It provides information on the average class size at schools by grade and program.
About this data
For multi-age (split) classrooms, class size is counted under the lowest grade. For example, a Grade 2/3 class is included in the Grade 2 average. Nursery and Grade 9 students are not included in split class averages.
Average class size reflects the number of students assigned to each teacher’s homeroom. For example, an average of 19 means there are about 19 students per classroom teacher.
Target class sizes in Winnipeg School Division are 20 students per teacher for Kindergarten to Grade 3, and 25 students per teacher for Grades 4 to 6.
The data is shown in two ways: the current average class size, and an adjusted average that accounts for Learning Support Teachers (LSTs). LSTs support areas such as literacy, numeracy, inclusion, counselling, and newcomer support. This does not include Principals, Vice-Principals, or Educational Assistants.
