Proclamation: Financial Literacy Month

November 2, 2026
Proclamation

The Manitoba government proclaims November 2026 as Financial Literacy Month, in recognition of the importance of financial literacy and consumer awareness education for Manitoba Kindergarten to Grade 12 learners.

Knowledge of personal finance equips youth to make responsible and informed decisions throughout their lives, contributing to their overall well-being and to the health of the provincial economy. Infusing financial concepts across the curriculum provides youth with opportunities to explore and analyze the implications of financial decisions from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Teachers and school staff can have a profound influence on student engagement and learning, helping students to understand the costs, benefits, and implications of both personal and local financial and economic issues, contexts and dynamics through rich learning experiences.

Students given the opportunity to learn how financial and economic matters and considerations relate to their career choices are better equipped to explore, develop, and realize their full potential. The Manitoba government encourages all Manitobans who work with young people across the province to engage them in financial literacy learning.
