National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women All Day
Other

On December 6, we observe the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

The day was established by the Parliament of Canada in 1991 to mark the anniversary of the 1989 murders of 14 women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal, who were killed because of their gender.

We come together to remember the victims, while also reflecting on the woman, girls, LGBTQI2S and gender diverse individuals for whom gender-based violence continues to be a daily reality.

Human Rights Day All Day

Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10 — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The UDHR is a milestone document, which proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being — regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
