The University of Manitoba recently honoured a long-time WSD educator with one of its Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Dr. Myra Laramee [MEd/92, PhD/13]—who has spent many years working with WSD students and educators as a teacher, administrator, mentor and the Division’s first Traditional Knowledge Keeper—was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the university.
The U of M recently celebrated Dr. Laramee’s award with the release of a special 23-minute video that reflects on her career and her impact in education.
Dr. Laramee has provided guidance to WSD and the Province of Manitoba many times over the years through her work as an educator, mentor, cultural teacher and through several guiding documents on topics ranging from Reconciliation to Indigenous languages and incorporating Indigenous perspectives.
Congratulations to Dr. Laramee on her award.
