Unveiling of mural at Argyle

On Thursday, September 14th, Argyle Alternative High School officially unveiled its new mural at their Meet the Staff BBQ.

The mural was designed by the students of Argyle in the spring of 2023 with the help of art teacher Tracy Woodward, and artist Annie Bergen.

Prior to Annie’s arrival at the school, students were asked Honourable Murray Sinclair’s four essential questions: Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going?

Students pondered these questions and wrote down their answers on a private forum. The anonymous answers were shared during a drawing session and the imagery began to take shape. With a plan in place, the students worked tirelessly to bring their ideas to life on the main-entry wall of the school. The students collaborated with each other to evolve their ideas, and it became clear that the mural became a living documentation of the school year.

At the unveiling, the students, staff, family members, alumni, and friends discovered the incredible details of the mural through an interactive scavenger hunt. Just like The Forks in Winnipeg, the mosaic rivers on the Argyle mural proved to be a natural gathering place.

“We are very proud of the students who worked tirelessly to complete this project and grateful to Annie for her inspiration and support,” said Keith Bousquet, principal of Argyle Alternative High School.
