WSD Long Service and Retirement ProgramJuly 5, 2021
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to offer our sincere congratulations to those employees who have achieved 25 years of service and to those who are retiring in the 2020/2021 school year. Unfortunately, the members of the Board were not able to formally recognize our employees at our Annual Long Service and Retirement Reception this year due to the provincial public health orders associated with the COVID-19 virus.
The members of the Board are honoured to recognize a total of 215 employees for their service. Whether as a Teacher, Administrator, Clerk, Educational Assistant, Custodian, Clinician or member of the Building Department, you all have contributed to supporting student learning in a safe and healthy environment and maintaining the excellent reputation that the Winnipeg School Division has earned over the past 150 years. It is remarkable to have so many people involved in providing the best possible service to the students and their families.
This year, the Winnipeg School Division is honouring seven employees who have achieved 40 years of service during the 2020/2021 school year. I am truly honoured to be acknowledging the outstanding service and commitment you have made to the Winnipeg School Division. The commitment you have made to education is to be commended. Each of you have made a difference for the many children in the Winnipeg School Division. You have been exceptional role models for new staff and I am sure they have learned much from you over the years. Thank you for your knowledge, experience and expertise for the past 40 years!
To those employees who have achieved 25 years of service, I would like to express my gratitude for your commitment to education and the dedication you have shown in serving the students of the Winnipeg School Division. There are 44 employees receiving recognition for 25 years of service representing all employee groups – Clerks, Custodians, Home Learning Assistants, Teachers and Educational Assistants and Administrative staff.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge each of our retiring employees. The Winnipeg School Division has benefitted greatly from your hard work and dedication and we sincerely thank you for your excellent service. There are 171 employees who are retiring from the division. Each retiree received a crystal memento with a book design. This design was chosen to symbolize the ending of a chapter in one’s life as another chapter begins. To our retiring employees, congratulations, as you begin to write your retirement chapter!
I, along with my colleagues extend our congratulations and all the best in the future.
