Special Language Exams – Spring Session

Winnipeg School Division offers Special Language Exams twice each school year, in fall and spring, for Senior Years (Grades 9–12) students who wish to earn additional credits for special languages they are fluent in.

Special Language Exams are open to students and residents of WSD, students who do not reside in WSD, and international students without residency.

Dates & Location

Spring exam dates: March 17-19, 2026
Registration closes: February 13, 2026
Location: Tec Voc High School
Time: Exams begin at 6:00 p.m.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many credits can a student earn through Special Language Exams?

Students can earn a maximum of four credits. If a student has already written an exam and received credit, they are not eligible to earn additional credits.

How many exams can a student register for in one session?

Students may register for one exam per session and must write the language and level they registered for.

Who receives the registration confirmation?

Once registration is complete, a confirmation is sent directly to the student’s school. A school contact is required when the online registration form is submitted.

Will WSD cancel language exams even if there are registrants?

WSD reserves the right to cancel a special language exam depending on examiner availability and number of registrants.

What does the student need to bring on exam day?

Students must bring their confirmation sheet with them when they arrive at the exam location.

Why might a student be scheduled for two exam nights?

If a student is scheduled for two nights, they must attend both evenings to receive credit. The first night is for the written exam, and the second night is for the oral exam.

How will students know when the oral exam takes place?

After the written exam, examiners will provide students with the date and time for the oral exam.
