Room 135 Nursery/Kindergarten Classroom Overview

Welcome to Nursery and Kindergarten in Room 135. We are so excited to be part of your child’s learning journey for the 2023/2024 school year!

Throughout the school year we will be focusing on literacy and numeracy, and integrating other curricular areas (science, social studies, art, and health) in a variety of ways that include learning through play, inquiry, mindfulness activities, and outdoor learning.

In numeracy, we will be focusing on developing number sense, along with mental math, problem solving and communication skills. In literacy, we will be working on developing beginning readers and writers through daily whole group, small group, and one on one instruction. Students will participate in regular oral phonological awareness activities (rhyming words, segmenting beginning and ending sounds), as well as phonics activities at their own levels (letter names and sounds, short vowel sounds, word building, etc).
