WSD Long Service and Retirement Reception 2023

Winnipeg School Division’s long-time employees reached many major milestones at the 66th annual Long Service and Retirement Reception.
The event, held June 9 at Canad-Inns Polo Park, was held in honour of 120 retiring employees, along with 49 employees who marked 25 years of service. This year also saw three employees reach a remarkable 40 years of service.
“Whether as a teacher, administrator, clerk, educational assistant, custodian, clinician, or member of the building department, you have all contributed to the excellent reputation that Winnipeg School Division has earned over the past 152 years,” said WSD Board Chair Betty Edel.
“The Winnipeg School Division’s children and families have benefited from all of your hard work and dedication. We sincerely thank you for your excellent service and congratulations on your success.”
Helen Fernandes and Shauna Cote spoke on behalf of retirees and 25-year employees respectively.
“This recognition today is not just about our accomplishments as individuals; it is about the strength and influence of our village and learning community, as a whole. It is a tribute to the countless hours we have spent working collectively, ultimately supporting the success of the children we serve,” said Cote, on behalf of the 49 employees celebrating 25 years in WSD.
Students from Sisler’s Grade 10 dance class showcased their skills and provided entertainment to open the afternoon’s ceremonies.
