Winnipeg Schools’ Science Fair (WSSF)

Welcome to the Winnipeg Schools’ Science Fair 2024! Bienvenue à l’expo-sciences des écoles 2024! 

We are pleased to offer the Winnipeg Schools’ Science Fair in both English and French. We are excited to meet again at an in-person fair which will be held at Technical Vocational High School. 

Hosting WSSF 2024 at Tec Voc High School offers students an incredible opportunity to learn about a range of careers and technical training while celebrating their hard work in science. Students will have the chance to tour and learn about university preparation courses for aerospace engineering, medicine, engineering, architecture and 19 other technical skills and trades offered at the school.

Deadline for Project Registration: Friday, March 8, 2024

Winnipeg Schools’ Science Fair and Judging: Wednesday, April 17, 2024

Awards Ceremony: Saturday, April 20, 2024

Required to Participate in WSSF 2024

To compete in WSSF 2024, all projects must complete the following two steps:

STEP 1 

Complete a Certificate of Origin

A Certificate of Origin for each student participating in the science project must be completed. This form must be signed by the student, the parents, and the teacher. If a project has two students, each student must complete their own Certificate of Origin. Email either a scanned copy or a photo of your completed Certificate of Origin to Mei Chi Kwok at mkwok@wsd1.org.

STEP 2

Register your project

Once you have determined you will be competing in WSSF 2024, register your project by completing the Google Form.

Wednesday, April 17, 2024    

7:00 to 8:45 a.m.
Exhibitors set up their projects in Tec Voc High School gym (Hornet Dome)

9:00 to 9:45 a.m.
Opening Ceremony — Tec Voc High School Theatre

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Round A - Judging

12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Lunch

1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Round B – Judging
Science Showcase (for students not in Round B)

3:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Projects and tables take down

Please note that the public, parents, guardians, friends and families are invited to view the projects from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

Please note that the WSSF team and Tec Voc High School will not be held responsible for any lost or missing items. Please do not bring valuables to the fair. The student participants are responsible for the setup and take down of their projects and display items. All projects and items must be removed from their display area by 3:30 p.m., April 17, 2024.

After this time, projects will be removed from the tables and set aside. After 4:00 p.m., the remaining projects and items will be disposed of. Please arrange to have someone else pick up your project if you cannot do so by this time.
