Winter Workshop - Grades 7 and 8
This project will provide students learning experiences in the field of instrumental music. Local professionals will be invited to run clinics designed according to the level and needs of students. At the clinics, students will have the opportunity to learn from professional musicians, play instruments and be part of an ensemble. Funding is Fee for Service/Performances.

Outdoor Education - Nursery to Grade 6

This project supports the 'soft' redevelopment and improvement of an existing outdoor space (a court yard) that will provide students and teachers an opportunity to learn and play in a welcoming and safe outdoor space. The funding will support the purchase of wood chips, a portable (take-down) Canopy for shade, educational tools such as white board and outdoor Phys.Ed and recess equipment. Funding is Supplies not available in school.

Indigenous Youth Leadership Program

The project will provide students the opportunities to meet on a regular basis, focusing on Indigenous teachings, education and cultural awareness, while empowering the students to be more active members of the community. Discussions and activities cover various topics such as music, traditional cooking and medicines, film studies, traditional art and music. Funding is Artist/Guest Speaker fees, Fee for Service/Performances, Supplies not available in school.

Yoga For Kids

Funding for this project will provide an opportunity for a group of students in Grades 4 to 6, to participate in Yoga for Kids. The program uses a multi-sensory approach to teaching children. The program improves fitness levels and coordination. Yoga also helps with body awareness, self-regulation, attention, stress management and cooperative learning skills. Funding is Fee for Service/Performances.

Pet Therapy/Empathy
This project will foster positive student mental health and wellness, and allow opportunities for students to interact with a therapy dog which can help reduce anxiety, build capacity and build empathy. The Animal Companionship Program is an animal-assisted pet therapy program in partnership with the Winnipeg Humane Society. A school clinician will schedule on a cycle basis, opportunities for students to interact with a dog and explore topics such as stress, coping skills, empathy, social emotional skills that will improve positive social skills. Funding is Fee for Service/Performance.

Outdoor Rejuvenation Project

Funding for this project will create an outdoor classroom and support the rejuvenation of the school grounds. An outdoor learning space will be created, where students can gather to share, be creative and continue learning in a safe and welcoming space. An additional outdoor space will be redeveloped in the front of the school, serving as a place for students and staff, but also a place for community members to gather.

Riverview Playground Replacement Project
$20,000
Funding for this project will provide support for the replacement of an existing, unsafe play structure. This play structure is over 21 years old and does not meet the requirements and needs of students. A new play structure will be more accessible for all, provide diversity of options for play, improve motor skills and enhance a positive social atmosphere.
