The Bridge Music Program
Funding for this project will bring in professional musicians to lead an extracurricular music course that teaches students music by ear. Developing Positive Mental Health From Indigenous Perspectives
This project will support students and their well-being from Indigenous perspectives. Students will explore “Mamahtawisiwin” and “Ajuinnata” from Canada’s First Nations, “Pakikipagkapwa-tao” from the Philippines, “Ikigai and Shinrin Yoku” from Japan, “Karma” from Hindu India, and “Ubuntu” from West Africa. Students will be using the process of Discovery, Asking, Nurturing, Creativity, and Educating (D.A.N.C.E). Students will use their new found knowledge to create action plans to share their information using different forms of communication. Students engaged in these activities will develop a repertoire of strategies for their own mental health throughout their growth. Funding for this project will support a two day experience for students in Grades 5 and 6. Animal Assisted Education/Pet Therapy
Funding for this project will help to foster positive student mental health and wellness. The project will allow opportunities for students to interact with a therapy dog/animals and help reduce anxiety, build capacity and build empathy. In conjunction to the school therapist facilitation group, a behaviour assessed therapy dog will be attending once every other cycle for 8 sessions. Benefits of Animal Assisted Education (AAE) include increased positive behaviours, decrease in stress and anxiety, and an increase in self confidence. Rolling with the Best of Them
Funding for this project will support he purchase of a “Wedge Mat”. The Wedge Mat provides students a safe environment while using equipment typically found in a gymnasium. Using the Wedge Mat promotes flexibility and fun for students while performing specific movements connected to the Gymnastics Unit of Physical Education. Funding is supplies not available in school.
